MISSILE RACE BETWEEN KOREAS
South Korea Unveils New Missile
By Harold Hutchison
South Korea’s response to the North Korean nuclear test has been to unveil a new missile. The new missile is capable of hitting any target in the North.
South Korea in the past has limited the range of its missiles, but in 2012, the United States agreed to let South Korea develop longer-range missiles. The new cruise missile is capable of being launched from surface vessels and submarines.
The new missile is intended to deter aggression from the North. While it is a conventional warhead, the South Koreans have claimed it can go through the window of North Korea’s “command office.”
