United Nations investigators say they have found mass graves in Ivory Coast containing the bodies of more than 50 people.

Officials with the U.N. human rights office said Monday that the graves were found in the Yopougon district of Abidjan, the country's commercial capital.

Local residents say the victims were killed April 12 when gunmen loyal to former president Laurent Gbagbo attacked supporters of the country's new president, Alassane Ouattara.

The army of south Sudan says 82 people have been killed in fighting between rebel militia and civilians in Warrap state.

Army spokesman Philip Aguer said Tuesday that the clashes broke out when rebels attacked a cattle camp, killing 34 people and wounding 45.

He says the cattle herders later ambushed the militiamen, killing 48 of them.

Aguer said the rebels entered Warrap after troops chased them out of neighboring Unity state last week.

Unrest in south Sudan has raised concerns about the region's stability as the south prepares for independence from the north on July 9.

Colombia has extradited to Venezuela a man accused of being an top international drug trafficker.

The United States had requested the suspect, Walid Makled, be sent to America to face charges he smuggled tons of cocaine.

However, Bogota opted to extradite Makled to Venezuela, where is wanted on murder and drug smuggling charges.

Makled has claimed that some of his business associates are close to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. He claims to have paid millions of dollars in bribes to top Venezuelan government officials.

A combined Afghan and coalition security force killed several Taliban insurgents while searching for a Taliban leader in Qush Tepah district, Jowzjan province yesterday.

The leader is the senior district chief, governing Taliban operations in Qush Tepah district, Jowzjan province. He is responsible for coordinating attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. He directs IED emplacements and procures funding for his subordinates in Qush Tapah and Darzab districts.

About four jerebs, or two acres, were destroyed in Zafarkhil village, Qalat District, in less than an hour.
