Pro-Ouattara Forces Attack Former Ally in Ivory Coast

Forces supporting new Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara have again attacked a militia that helped drive his rival Laurent Gbagbo from power.

Witnesses say the pro-Ouattara Republican Forces attacked fighters of militia leader Ibrahim Coulibaly on Wednesday in Abobo, a neighborhood in the main city of Abidjan. Residents of the area reported hearing gunfire and heavy weapons fire.

A spokesman for Coulibaly, Felix Anoble, expressed surprise at the attack, saying it came as the militia prepared to heed President Ouattara's call to disarm.

Shooting Incident in Kabul Leaves 9 Dead

Eight International Security Assistance Force service members and an ISAF civilian died today following a shooting incident in Afghanistan’s capital of Kabul, military officials reported.

Marine Corps Col. Dave Lapan, a Pentagon spokesman, said ISAF has confirmed that the service members and civilian were Americans. Because next of kin had not yet been notified, he would not provide the service affiliations of the service members who were killed.

The shooter reportedly was an Afghan air force officer who was killed during the incident, Lapan said.

ISAF Joint Command operational update

An Afghan and coalition force captured a senior Hezb-E Islami Gulbuddin leader and several suspected insurgents during a security operation in Sabari District, Khost province, yesterday.

The leader was the senior leader for all Hezb-E Islami Gulbuddin operations in Khost province.

The security force targeted the leader’s suspected compound after numerous intelligence sources indicated insurgent activity in the district. The force isolated the area and called for all occupants to exit the buildings. After ensuring the safety of the women and children, the force interviewed residents.

New rearming point expands Marines’ rotary reach near Sangin, Afghanistan

Staff Sgt. Rockey L. Crump gives his Marines the five-minute warning. An AH-1W Cobra is inbound to Combat Outpost Ouellette and needs fuel. With just three minutes remaining, the Cobra radios back requesting full ordnance.

The helicopter touches down and the Marines launch into action. Ordnance Marines disarm the aircraft, then fuelers move in to quench its thirst. Once the refueling is complete, the ordnance Marines again take over and re-arm the bird with a fresh supply of ammunition.

New WA suppressor law won't get USA Today's vote

How would anti-gun editors treat Gregoire, WA lawmakers over suppressors?

Weekend editorials in USA Today and the Hartford Courant clearly demonstrate both newspapers’ dislike of pro-Second Amendment issues, leaving one to question how these eastern journals might react to actions by the Washington Legislature and Gov. Christine Gregoire, who signed a law allowing the use of legally-owned firearm suppressors.

Venezuela Deports FARC Suspect to Colombia

Venezuela has deported to Colombia a man authorities say has ties to the FARC rebel group, in a sign of warming relations between the two countries.

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos told reporters Monday that he had called Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to alert him that suspect Joaquin Perez was on a flight to Venezuela.

Santos said Chavez had complied with his request to have Perez arrested when he arrived in Venezuela Saturday.

Perez is accused of running a website promoting the FARC rebels and being a liaison in Europe for the militant group.
