The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is alleging that high-ranking officials in the Department of Justice knew about and approved Project Gunrunner, despite assertions by Attorney General Eric Holder to the contrary, or his failure to answer questions about the operation during a House committee hearing this week.

Pakistan Wants US to Reduce Military Presence

Pakistan's military on Thursday warned that any future U.S. raids on Pakistani territory will result in a review of military and intelligence cooperation with the United States.

The statement is the first to be issued by the Pakistani military since Monday's U.S. commando raid that killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden. The statement says U.S. military personnel in Pakistan will be reduced to the “minimum essential” levels. The statement also admits, however, to “shortcomings” in the military's efforts to locate bin Laden.

Suspected US Missile Strike Kills 2 al-Qaida Militants in Yemen

A suspected American missile strike has killed two brothers believed to be al-Qaida militants in a remote region of Yemen.

Yemeni officials said the brothers Abdullah and Mosaad Mubarak died in Shabwa province Thursday, but they did not elaborate on how they were killed. Media reports quote tribal officials and witnesses as saying they suspected it was a U.S. missile strike.

One witness told Reuters that people in the area saw what was believed to be a missile hit the brothers' car, causing it to explode and burn completely.

Castro Criticizes US for Way it Killed Bin Laden

Former Cuban President Fidel Castro has criticized the way the United States carried out the raid against Osama bin Laden, saying the U.S. commandos killed him in front of his family.

Castro made the comments in an essay published by state media on Thursday. He also said the U.S. raid on bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan violated that country's laws and offended its dignity.

Sudan’s Ruling Party Denies Responsibility for Abyei Clashes

A prominent member of Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party [NCP] says reports of 14 deaths in Abyei Tuesday are “completely false.” The victims were said to have died in clashes between the [northern] Sudanese army and southern forces.

The violence began when police stopped a convoy of northern troops that had entered Abyei, which is rich in oil and is claimed by both the north and the south. Southern officials say an agreement signed between the two regions stipulates that only a joint force is allowed to enter Abyei.

Does bin Laden's death change anything for deployed airmen?

Nearly 10 years ago the very fabric of the red, white and blue was tested by the sounds of 767 jets crashing and two monumental buildings falling to the ground. Soon after the dust settled from the downing of the second tower, with the headlines still buzzing over causalities from the horrific events, every American and U.S. service member life was changed forever.

Until this point most American's had only seen visions of terrorism in foreign lands like Europe. Many U.S. service members entered a military life that was somewhat stable.

EOD team trains Iraqi agencies to save lives

Thousands of people have died from improvised explosive devices in Iraq. But even one death from these attacks is one too many, and an explosive ordnance disposal team from Contingency Operating Site Warrior is trying to prevent that number from getting any bigger.

The 321st Expeditionary Operation Support Squadron EOD team recently completed a program to train three local agencies; an Iraqi army EOD team, an Iraqi fire department and an Iraqi police bomb squad.
