Deal Proposed with Russia – but What About China’s Nukes?
By Harold Hutchison
Barack Obama used his speech in Berlin to call for a further reduction of the American and Russian nuclear arsenals by one-third. Under the New START treaty, the American and Russian nuclear arsenals are limited to 1,550 nuclear weapons.
Unmentioned in Obama’s speech: China’s nuclear arsenal. While many estimate the ChiComs to have less than 250 nuclear weapons, a Russian general recently claimed the true figure could be over 1,800.
Is it a good idea to reduce America’s nuclear arsenal further?
