Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ordered a high altitude object to be shot down over Canadian airspace on Saturday, he wrote in a tweet.
“I ordered the take down of an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace. @NORADCommand shot down the object over the Yukon. Canadian and U.S. aircraft were scrambled, and a U.S. F-22 successfully fired at the object,” Trudeau wrote on Twitter.
Trudeau said he spoke with President Joe Biden on Saturday, and that Canadian forces will recover and analyze the object.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command said earlier Saturday it was monitoring “a high altitude airborne object” over northern Canada.
The object is the third high altitude object to be shot down within the past week over North American airspace.
