Israel has completed its attacks on military targets in Iran, the Israel Defense Forces said.
“I can now confirm that we have concluded the Israeli response to Iran’s attacks against Israel,” IDF Spokesperson RAdm. Daniel Hagari said on Oct. 26. “We conducted targeted and precise strikes on military targets in Iran — thwarting immediate threats to the State of Israel.”
Early on Saturday, Israel announced that its forces had launched “precise” attacks on targets in Iran; this was in retaliation for Iranian attacks on Israel earlier this month, the IDF said.
The initial announcement came after several explosions were reported to have rocked the Iranian capital, Tehran, and nearby Karaj City, local media reported.
“In response to months of continuous attacks from the regime in Iran against the State of Israel—right now the Israel Defense Forces is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran,” the IDF announced in the early morning hours of Oct. 26.
“The regime in Iran and its proxies in the region have been relentlessly attacking Israel since October 7th—on seven fronts—including direct attacks from Iranian soil. Like every other sovereign country in the world, the State of Israel has the right and the duty to respond,” the IDF said in an announcement. “Our defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilized. We will do whatever necessary to defend the State of Israel and the people of Israel.”
State television and the Fars news agency, which is linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), as well as CNN, reported the explosions in the early hours of October 26.
