Enacted without irony. While marking the anniversary of Victory Day today in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin and other foreign heads of state laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Alexander Garden.

There was no mention of the carnage Putin has wrought in his ongoing war against Ukraine.

The event commemorates the 79th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany during World War II, known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War.

The wreath ceremony was held following the annual Victory Day parade through Moscow. Again, this was held without irony.
